Water reservoirs

Water reservoirs are water farm objects served to collection and regulation of river flows, also constructed to satisfy people's need for water and to irrigate sown areas since ancient times. First water reservoir called Ganligol in Azerbaijan with 0.9 mln. m³ capacity was built in 1864 in the territory of Nakhchivan. At present there are 153 reservoirs in the territory of our country. The total volume of water reservoirs is 21.9 billion cubic meters. m³. Water reservoirs have a great importance in the development of human life activity and the agriculture of the country, by regulating flood and flood waters, by generating energy.
